Marlin fishing in Puerto Vallarta is normally 36 to 50 miles offshore you will normally need a 10-12 hour fishing charter.


When is the best time of the year to catch Marlin in Puerto Vallarta?
For Blue and Black Marlin the season is mid June to the end of November. For Striped Marlin the Season is normally January through April.


What type of fish can I expect to catch on a 4 or 6 hour fishing charter inside the bay?
Depending on season inside the bay you can catch a variety of smaller species most comely Jack Crevalle, Skip Jacks, Needlefish, Spanish Mackeral, and if your a lucky angler you can sometimes find small Roosterfish, Dorado, and Tuna.

How long of a fishing charter do I need to reserve for Giant Yellowfin Tuna?
Normally the Cow Yellowfin Tuna that Puerto Vallarta fishing is famous for are caught 100 + miles offshore on 2 and half day overnight fishing charters.  Sure there are some caught at el Banco and Corbetena here and there but typically 90 % of the Tuna caught over a 100 lbs we caught out past the Islands on overnight charters. Yellowfin Tuna is one of most sought out game fish in world but catching a cow tuna is no easy task and you want to make sure you get a very experienced captain for the overnight Tuna charters.


How long does it take to reel in a big Yellowfin Tuna?
Depending on the angler and the fish it can take 30 minutes to 3 hours to reel in a big Yellowfin Tuna.

Are there restaurants in the Marina I can have my fish cooked after my charter?
Yes there are alot of restaurants We recommend Victors or el Coleguita.

Can We ship our fish back Home after our fishing charter?
Unfortunately the only way to ship fish at the moment is DHL which is way to expensive. But you can freeze your fish and bring it on the plane every airline differs so please check with your airline beforehand but you can normally bring back around 50 lbs per person.

Sometimes you can find small Dorado inside the bay on 4 and 6 hr charters but normally for good Dorado fishing you want to go to marietas or el moro on a 8 hr fishing charter. You can also catch Dorado further offshore typically the further you go the bigger the fish.

Yes Dorado and Mahi mahi are the same Dorado is the Spanish name also means the golden fish because when there getting close to the boat they look gold while in the water.
